The Third Coast

Although we spent almost an entire month in Chicago, I have surprisingly very little written in my journal during this time, besides one spontaneous entry written entirely in Spanish, inspired by the Hispanic Pilsen neighborhood where we stayed. I would share it, but unfortunately even if you know Spanish, it wouldn't make much sense anyway.

Deciphering my gibberish, I'm certain that I mostly wrote about the delicious food in our neighborhood, including the the hole-in-the-wall carnitas restaurant (Carnitas Don Pedro) and the refined plates of dumplings in nearby Chinatown (Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings).

Some other non-food highlights:

This was my first visit to Chicago (with all my preconceived notions coming from pandemic-binging Easy on Netflix), and I can say it offers some of the best of city living in a more approachable way than NYC. With a number of family and friends in the area, Will and I hope to be back soon!
